We are a small but mighty community of thinkers, dreamers and creatives.
Acton Academy Phoenix joins a growing network of Acton Academy private schools around the world. What originally started out of Austin, Texas has now spread to hundreds of locations in all different communities around the country and beyond.
The first Acton Academy was founded in 2009, by parents Jeff and Laura Sandefer, who wanted a different and empowering kind of education for their own kids. Today, there are 300+ Actons around the world and more coming every year.
Fast forward to 2016, through a small community of friends and supporters, Acton Academy Phoenix was brought to life.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
"Clear thinking leads to good decisions, good decisions lead to the right habits, the right habits lead to character and character becomes destiny."
We promise
We promise, through Socratic guiding and experiential learning, you and your child will:
Begin a hero's journey.
Learn to be a curious, independent, lifelong learner.
Develop a deep respect for economic, political and religious freedoms.
Cherish the arts, wonders of the physical world and the mysteries of life on Earth.
Discover your most precious gifts and learn to use them to solve difficult problems.
At Acton Academy Phoenix, the compass symbolizes the journey every young hero is on—a journey not just of academic discovery, but of purpose, identity, and contribution.
In a world full of distractions and noise, we believe children don’t need a map—they need a compass. Because when you know your True North, you can find your way through any challenge.
The compass reflects our commitment to:
The Hero’s Journey – Every learner at Acton is the hero of their own story, on a quest to discover their gifts and make a difference in the world.
Adventure and Discovery – Learning here is not passive. It’s active, challenging, and filled with real-world problems to solve and meaningful work to pursue.
Finding One’s Calling – We equip learners to listen to their inner guide, follow curiosity, and seek truth, so they can navigate life with purpose and clarity.
Freedom with Direction – At Acton, learners have the freedom to choose—but they do so with intention. The compass reminds us that with a clear sense of purpose, every direction becomes possible.
